A few hours pass and there is a knock at the door

Joanne

Well I guess that’s lover boy.

(Moody)

Maddie runs to the door.

Maddie

Hi ya!!

Ben

Hello gorgeous!!

Joanne

Hi Ben, so you stopping over?

(Happy and pleasant)

Ben

Yes if that’s ok?

Joanne

Of course it is.

Ben

I’ll have to leave first thing though as I’ve just found out I need to pick some dogs up and take them to the kennels.

Maddie

Awe, no lay in then?

Ben

Nope, I’m afraid not.

Save it for our honeymoon

(Whispered)

Joanne’s head spins round and she glares at them silently.

Maddie

(Chuckles)

Well that’s ok, I’ve got some studying to do anyway.

Joanne wakes up in the morning and notices ben’s car has gone. She smiles and puts the kettle on.

Joanne

Maddie!! Kettles on, do you want a cuppa? Maddie?

After no answer she checks Maddie’s room and there is nobody there.

She panics and calls Maddie’s mobile. Maddie answers all cheery

Joanne

Maddie!! Where are you?

Maddie

Hi Mum, I’m with ben

I wanted to meet the dogs so I’m going to the library to study afterwards.

Joanne

(There is desperation in her mums voice)

You worried me just going off like that. You shouldn’t be wasting your time seeing animals you have uni-work to do. Why don’t you get ben to drop you off at the…

She is cut off by the sound off screeching tires, a loud crash and silence.

Joanne
